I hate to admit it, but I hate working out! I know that is weird to say considering we created a faith and fitness blog, but it’s the truth. I don’t look forward to an hour of exercising every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday! The best part of the workout for me is when it’s over lol. So hopefully I have proven my point, that I hate working out lol. But one thing that this weight loss journey has taught me is that discipline outweighs motivation. On rare occasions I can muster up the motivation and get pumped for my workout, but most of the time I am banking on my discipline to get me through it. I am committed to this lifestyle now, and that will carry me on when motivation is nowhere to be found.
DISCIPLINE: A way of behaving that shows a willingness to obey rules or orders.
This reminds me of my favorite scripture that I have meditated on throughout this journey. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening- it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way (Hebrews 12:11). As I shared in the Journey is Beautiful blog post, that the journey to lose this weight is hard and gruesome at times, but the journey to get there will always be beautiful! I can relate with this scripture in more ways than one! Like having discipline is not pleasant; sometimes (OK most of the time lol) I want to eat whatever I want, whenever I want. But I know that my discipline now will only get me closer to my goals; with each NO I give to unhealthy food I am saying YES to a healthy body! So for anyone out there that hasn’t jumped on this train of living a healthier lifestyle because you don’t enjoy working out, hopefully this post proves that it just isn’t a good enough excuse anymore! Yea I hate working out now, but I’m pretty sure that I will grow to love it (hopefully sooner than later) because I will have to do it for the rest of my life.
UPDATE: I actually wrote this blog post almost a year ago and I never posted it! I actually look forward to working out now! Never thought I would see that day, but I don’t hate working out (as much) anymore!!
