Ahhh. The 2-Week Challenge is FINALLY OVER! But before Malisa runs to Chick-fil-A for #1 with a lemonade, let’s discuss how we wrapped up the rest of the challenge!
This challenge definitely turned out to be harder than what I expected! But it was definitely the push I needed to get me closer to my goals! For the first half of the year, I was at a standstill when it came to weight loss. I basically have remained the same weight for the past 3-4 months. I would lose a pound or two and when the weekend would get here, I would throw all of that progress in the trash! So this 2 week challenge forced me to eat well on the weekends so I could maintain the loss I made during the week!! Weekends are like my kryptonite… weekends and good food just go hand in hand lol. So this past weekend was no different! Friday I was off from work, and I was out running errands all day and forgot to eat breakfast! Wendy’s 4 for $4 definitely crossed my mind lol! But instead I went into Walmart and bought me some pineapple and a rotisserie chicken and ate it in the car! That was definitely a victory for me because I decided to use self-control and tell myself NO instead of just giving in to the craving as usual!
Then on Sunday after church, Malisa and I decided to do a little shopping for our trip coming up in October! Probably wasn’t the best idea because we were STARVING! The mall and hunger shouldn’t be put together because it usually doesn’t end well! But thankfully this one did, we decided to just eat at home instead of eating out! We were definitely proud of ourselves for doing that not just because of this challenge, but also because we saved some money too!! When the option of fast food is taken off of the table, it causes us to prepare in advance for the times we are starving and have no regard for eating healthy.
The water only part of the challenge was probably the easiest for me this week even though on Sunday I did forget and had a sip of lemonade. But I remembered the challenge as soon as I took the sip lol. All in all, this challenge was a success for me and definitely needed to get this weight going down again!!
You all have no idea how excited I am now that the two-week challenge is over… I mean, that was seriously the longest two weeks of my life! Not only, did I want to eat at EVERY fast food restaurant that I passed (even McDonald’s looked appetizing and I haven’t eaten there in years) but it seemed as if water wasn’t available. Everywhere I went, there was only juice and to be honest, I forgot a few times but it was after only a sip. Luckily, I was able to work out three times last week and I pushed myself to go a tad bit harder during each workout. During my dance class, I pushed myself to get back up and keep going when I fell down on the ground while learning how to do a turn. I pushed myself to complete a mile on the elliptical in under 9 minutes, which I achieved with about one minute to spare AND I didn’t even sneak a french fry!
Now even though I kept the rules of the challenges, I did notice that I could have eaten better meals and snacks. My sweet tooth was extra aggressive last week and I gave in a few times. My salt cravings were more frequent than normal and I do remember eating a few bags of chips. So this week, I am doing a personal challenge to not eat chips and limit my sweets. I am sure that the cravings will try and take over but this is something that I need to do in order to break the hold that sweets currently have over me.
Overall, even though I struggled during the first week, I am really glad that Jasmine came up with the challenge and that I pushed through to the end. I am learning that when it comes to weight loss, if I am knocked down I cannot stay there too long and I must get back up and finish the race!
