Losing Excuses

As a woman, my hair is very important to me and I like for it to look nice! I used to feel like it was impossible for me to work out as much as I do and have my hair look presentable throughout the week! Some hairstyles that I use to wear before starting this journey, are just not feasible now that I work out at least three times a week. I just wanted to share some of the hairstyles that have been getting us through our weight loss journeys and helps us to lose the excuse of “I could work out, but I don’t want to mess up my hair.”

Halo Braids/Twists

I consider my Halo Braids/Twist to be my lazy style! I can just wash my hair and twist it in 15 minutes. I probably wear this style the most because it’s quick and lasts the entire week, despite me sweating like a pig during my workouts!!

Crochet Braids

Crochet braids have definitely been Malisa’s go-to hairstyle throughout her weight loss journey! Crochet braids last about a month and it gives a very defined twist-out look!

Box Braids

I only get Box braids maybe once a year and they last about 2-3 months! The biggest pro to this hairstyle is that I don’t have to worry about my hair for a full two months! One con to box braids is that the fake hair added in, adds 1.5 lbs to my weight and that is definitely not something you want to see when you are on a weight loss journey lol!

Malisa has the wig game down pack and she rocks them well!! So well that you would never guess she looks like Cleo from Set It Off under there (LOOLL!!). But all jokes aside, wigs are perfect if your head sweats a lot during workouts. Just rock the Cleo braids under a hat while working out and when it’s time to go to work you put on a wig and you look like a new woman! Another PRO to wigs are that if you have to wash your hair multiple times during the week because of the sweat, you don’t have to worry about styling your own hair each time, just braid it back up and you are good to go!!

Twist-outs are my absolute favorite hairstyle, but it hasn’t been the best to wear while working out multiple times a week! If I don’t work out, my twist-out can last for a whole week, but when I workout it can last two days max! So don’t do this hairstyle much if you plan on exercising multiple times a week!

For the past couple of months, buns and head wraps have been my go to!! It only takes about 15 minutes to put my hair in a bun after washing it, so it is definitely a quick and easy style!

What has been your go-to hairstyle throughout your weight loss journey? We would love to hear from you!
