I am extremely close to my first major goal weight of 199 pounds (the scale keeps moving between 200.8 and 199.3) and I think this is a perfect time for me to highlight my NSVs thus far. It still amazes me to think that I have already lost approximately 57 pounds! During this time last year, I didn’t even think that this was possible. To think that I am still challenging myself to lose another 60 pounds doesn’t make sense in my head but I am too far along to stop now!
Smaller Shoe Size
This non-scale victory makes me extremely excited! I am only 5’1’” and having a shoe size of 9 has bothered me for most of my adult life. Most of my friends, even the ones who are taller than me, wear sizes 7 and under and they make sure to tell me that I have boat feet or feet the size of a man (LOL). I am not sure of my exact shoe size because I have yet to buy new shoes but I am almost certain that it is a 8 ½. I currently can barely walk up any stairs or jump without my shoes flopping off. Yeah, it is becoming dangerous and I plan to buy some new shoes soon.
Crossing my Legs
Now this is MAJOR for me! It has always irritated me that I could not cross my legs when sitting. I am not sure why (I have probably been brain washed by society) but I believe crossing your legs is feminine and I just wanted to have the option to do it. I celebrate this accomplishment by crossing my legs whenever I get a chance!
Fitting in a Movie Theater Seat
Because I am bottom heavy, my thighs have always spilled over in conference or movie theater seats. I have always been self-conscious about this and would petition to sit in the end seat or in between good friends that wouldn’t judge me. It was still uncomfortable for me when movie theaters began switching to recliner seats. These seats are supposed to be more comfortable but my thighs kept involuntarily hitting the recliner buttons and my seat would move back and forth during the entire movie (how embarrassing). Today, I no longer have that problem!
Wearing XL Clothing
I have been a XXL (but squeezing into XLs) for as long as I can remember. I now can wear almost all XLs no matter which brand and I can wear many Ls as well. I have also gone from a size 22 to 16/14. Yeah, I am HAPPY!
I. Can. Run. I can consistently run a ½ mile on speed 5 without stopping and I once ran a whole mile. Even though I HATE running, I know that it is great cardio and I need to continue to improve my endurance.
What are some of your NSVs? What has excited you even when the scale didn’t budge? I hope to hear from you!
