Malisa: 50 Pounds Down

It has taken me over 2 months to lose a little over 10 pounds and I am thrilled to finally be in the single digits and so close to 199. I posted my last weight progress entry on October 13, 2017 (you can read that here) and I weighed in at 217.8 pounds.

Original weight: 256.6
Current weight: 204.5
Total pounds lost: 52.1
Current Body Fat: 40.5%
Current BMI: 39.5%

These last two months have been a complete struggle! I hit many walls and felt trapped in my own thoughts, shortcomings and failures. I continued to workout with my trainer three days a week but I did not workout on my own or eat properly. I wanted to eat better but I was standing in my own way. I wish I could blame the slow weight loss solely on the holidays but I can’t. I didn’t eat any candy at the end of October, ate only half my plate for Thanksgiving, I did, however, eat enough for three people on Christmas (my mother’s red velvet cakes should be a sin) but I barely ate a thing for the New Year!

Sweets, snacks and NOT getting the proper rest were my downfall. I don’t think I hit a plateau. I just wasn’t properly fueling my body to drop the excess weight. Now that it is 2018, I am back on track and ready to hit my first major weight loss goal of 199 pounds!!!

I have officially lost over 50 pounds and if I can be honest, I am in disbelief. All of my old clothes are hanging off me, working out has become a hobby and my family and friends are really starting to notice the changes in my physical appearance and my new lifestyle. I give God all of the glory for I know it is because of his strength and not my own!

  1. Keep up the good work. I’m trying to go down 100lbs and as well. And eating is my main issues along with I make excuses for not going to the gym. Like I work two jobs and have full time school lol. It’s literally a day at a time. And like my last blog post 2018 is the year to break limits. I pray you break yours and loose your other 50lbs

  2. Put boundaries in place for when life hits hard that food, inactivity or any anti-progress remedies seems like a solution. That’s the one thing that I didn’t do in the past. I had never thought that I would lose the amount of weight that I did nor did I ever think that I would gain it back. So, as I Journey again I know that I’m setting up boundaries now. Yesterday was an emotionally hard day for me and so I didn’t run to food, or TV, because of the commitments that I made this month. I’m learning new habits and reinforcing those things daily ,so, that when life hits hard again that I’ll run to productive things (prayer, my support system etc) instead of what is counterproductive.

    • Yes!!! Setting boundaries is hard for me as well but I know that we can both set them and succeed. So happy to hear that you stuck with your commitments even though you had a hard day!!! We got this sis. There is no stopping us 💪🏾

  3. You’re doing great! Congratulations on that milestone, it’s quite an accomplishment! As for advice, what has worked for me has been cutting out a lot of processed foods from my daily diet. I cook a lot more using fresh ingredients and I’m really enjoying it!

    • Thank you!!! I workout three times a week with my trainer and try my best to workout two days a week on my own. It’s a struggle and doesn’t always happen but that is my goal. I also finally improved with my healthy eating and eat fruits and vegetables as much as possible. I hope this helps! Thanks for reading!!!

      • I currently work 40+ hours per week and I still make time for exercise almost everyday. I think what worked for me was creating a schedule and not breaking it. My friends now know that on Tuesdays and Thursdays after work and Saturday mornings, I am unavailable so don’t try to make plans with me LOL. It is a sacrifice for sure but completely worth it. I am sure that if you really looked, you can find an hour when you can workout before all of your classes, in between or at the end of the day for at least three days a week. Once you become dedicated to your three days add in two more days! Your body will not want to wake up an hour earlier at first but it will thank you later!!!
